<altan> Er, my name in RealLife is Altan as well... Hmm, I appear to be 14 at the time I am writing this... Born on March 9th... Its pretty l33t being born on the same day as Barbie ;)

<Hourences> You like Barbie ?:)
<altan> Nah, its just some fact some girl told me a looong time ago.

<Hourences> How did you started with PC ?
<altan> Umm, it actually happened that my cousin told me that I could get a free home page on this site called Gheyocities... I made some crap templated pages, but got into HTML so I could make it look better... This was when I was, oh, 9 or 10 I think. After that, I started dabbling with everything related to computers. Funny thing is, my cousin happens to be a bit of a technophobe :)

<Hourences> What games you like ?
<altan> Hmm, I don't really play games that frequently once I got off the one or two month period when all I did on my new comp was play games, since I was so deprived of them on the 200MMX :) But my fave games these days are UT of course, Morrowind (it was a great game, but after you do the quests I find it a bit mind-numbing), Quake 3 (sue me)

<Hourences> You're doing a mod or some quests for Morrowind too atm right ? what is it gonna look like ?
<altan> Oh, that was a temporary interest that I may pick up at some later point like I do with many of my projects :) The basic idea is a bit like Doom, a hole has been blasted down to hell and the monsters are leaking out... You must go down and find a way to block Hell out again. I want it to be really dark, and as disturbing as possible :) I think the Doom idea sticks in my mind, I have an idea to make an SP based on the original Doom for UT2K3 or UT even... or U2

<Hourences> How did you start with UT ?
<altan> Well, I was a great fan of Unreal when it first came out in 1998... I was like 10 then, heh, and it was my favorite game until UT rolled along... Its still my favorite SP after Morrowind, but maybe one day if I try Deus Ex I may change my mind... So anyway, I bought pirate versions of Unreal 3 times cause I kept on losing the CD and you can't buy boxed games here in Turkey... Then I bought my final Unreal with Totally Unreal in England :) I had played UT at my friend's house a few times, but my comp was really lacking the power to run it at the time, my 200MMX/32MB RAM/Cirrus Logic 2MB lasted me until February 2002... It ran Unreal at about 15-20FPS in Software at 320*400 :P

<Hourences> Why do you map ? How did you start with it or why did you wanted to do it ?
<altan> Mapping was a dream of mine ever since I bought Unreal, it just seemed so cool that I could make anything I want to and get to fight in it in Unreal... Right before I bought my new comp and after I bought Totally Unreal, I decided I want to make a CTF map of my school. I dropped the project of making my school cause it sort of sucked, and the layout is horrible now I look back on it... It introduced me to mapping though, for which I am grateful for :) Its amazing to look back and see how much I have progressed... :)

<Hourences> What about coding ?
<altan> Coding... Hmm, I didn't get into UScript at all although I planned to this summer... Coding got planted into me with HTML, and then I learned QBASIC (lol) quite well... Learned a bit of C... Then I started working with ASP, which I got really good at :) Now and then, I make a bit of an effort to open up my C or PHP books and try to learn more...

<Hourences> Any other things you do on pc or you would like to do in the future ?
<altan> There are so many things... Above all, I want to make maps with the new editor for the new game (/me slaps Mark Rein ;))... I also got ahold of 3ds max 5 recently, I want to get into that as well... Learn PHP, learn C, learn OpenGL... But my overall dream is to become a 3d modeler or mapper even for a game company, even though its quite a tough goal :)

<Hourences> Why did you joined BUF ? What do you like about it ?
<altan> I joined BuF last December... I have no idea how I stumbled across it, probably looking for Unreal 1 maps in Nali City or looking in PuF... My first post was to inquire about what computer I should buy... I love BuF, its literally part of my life now. Its great cause everyone talks so openly about everything, and its a nice and understanding environment where you can talk about a bunch of random things and debate about intelligent matters, many things I can't seem to do in RealLife with other people

<Hourences> You're gonna play/map for UT2k3 too ?
<altan> Of course, I thought that was a pretty obvious question ;) I can't wait, although I will probably play the actual game for 3 days and then get right into mapping and never play it again :P

<Hourences> You want to go work as proffesional game developer someday ?
<altan> That's my dream, but I am aware of the fact that it is a hard goal, although I will really try hard. That's why I started out at all these things at such a young age when my parents and stuff say I should go out and play sports and stuff :)

<Hourences> You're still going to school or work ? what do you do there ? is it fun ?
<altan> I'm still going to school unfortunately, but I don't have a choice other than going to school for another 8 years (including this year) as a backup plan in case I'm not so hot as a game developer. I really don't like my school, you have no choice of classes cause its a very small international school, and when you get to in 11th grade there are like 7 classes you can take, none of them related to computers :( What I do at school, pretend to work and draw some art in my notebook usually having to do with technology. My favorite theme in my drawings is a person thats getting eaten up or killed by technology, that represents myself in a way... I'm getting better at feeling happy away from my computer though, since I have been going out with my friends more often.

<Hourences> What kind of music you like ?
<altan> Erm, I don't really know what kind I like, but I guess I will call them "metalloids" cause thats what they are closest to... I am a huge fan of Marilyn Manson, mostly cause I love how they combine the meaningful lyrics with sounds appropriate to them, a perfect harmony. Other bands I listen to, are Nine Inch Nails (really inspired in my opinion), Black Sabbath (quite possibly one of the greatest bands ever in my opinion), and Bad Religion ( some of the most meaningful lyrics ever, up there right next to Mr. Manson :)

<Hourences> You find yourself a pc addict/freak ?:) Or do you still try to do something else then PC ?
<altan> Yes, I do find myself a PC er, not addict or freak, how about enthusiast? I don't really try anything other than computers very often, but I constantly try to discover new things within like 3d design or programming etc :) Its like an entire universe in here...

<Hourences> You like purple ants ?
<altan> o_O??? WTF??? Er, purple ants... Hrmm... Er, as long as they don't crawl around in my food or something I guess. Or unless they bite :)
